Hi, I'm Gavin Frody! I am a cellist and composer with a B.S. in Music
Composition from Central Michigan University. My background includes
performing with orchestras, chamber groups, praise bands, contemporary
ensembles, and as a soloist. These experiences have shaped many creative
approaches to both performing and writing music. In weddings, private
events, or concerts, I love bringing music to life in a way that fits
the space and the people in it. I especially enjoy mixing influences
from artists like Ella Fitzgerald, J.S. Bach, and Lady Gaga into my
work, often through improvisation. Through connection in music, any day
can be turned into a lifelong memory.
I've written in many different ensembles, such as symphonic
orchestra, but have a soft spot for chamber music, such as string
quartet, brass quintet, woodwind quintet, voices, and many types of
mixed ensembles. Often times music is the most fun playing with friends.
I also arrange music, especially for cello, like cello quartets and
cello choir or other like-instrument ensembles.
Most recently (Summer 2025), I am working at Wensco Sign Supply in
Belmont, Michigan as a field service technician. Basically, I work on
large-format inkjet printers (these are what shops use to make banners
and lots of stickers!), servicing, installing, and maintaining them to
keep them running smoothly. In July 2025, I was promoted to Service
Technician Coordinator, which helps, well, coordinate the various
technicians working in the Belmont office as well as invoicing,
inventory, and customer support.
